چکیده

This paper presents one of the interferometric related applications that has recently attracted more interest from the scientific community. The objective is to exploit the coherence information derivable from a couple of ERS SAR images to evaluate land surface characteristics and its changes. An area located in Patagony has been selected for this work. Results should provide information about the surface characteristics and their evolution in time. Simultaneously, they are expected to confirm the potential and validity of a new kind of ERS SAR product for land use analysis and surface changes monitoring that is currently being tested at ESRIN.

Monitoring the earth surface temperature and relationship land use with surface temperature using of OLI and TIRS Image

Earth surface temperature is an important indicator in the study of energy equilibrium models at the ground level on a regional and global scale. Due to the limitation of meteorological stations, remote sensing can be an appropriate alternative to the Earth's surface temperature. The main objective of this study is to monitor the surface temperature and its relationship with land use, which is ...

Urban Change Detection Using Coherence and Intensity Characteristics of Multi-temporal ERS-1/2 Imagery

In this paper, the potential of multitemporal ERS-1/2 InSAR data for detecting urban land-cover changes is investigated on a test area within Shanghai city, China. A new unsupervised change-detection approach is proposed, which is characterized by the combined use of two temporal variations based on backscattering intensity and long-term coherence from multitemporal ERS-1/2 SAR images. The prop...

Monitoring Land Surface Subsidence Using Radar Interferometry: The Challenges

SUMMARY Subsidence of the land surface is defined as the vertical surface movement due to the removal of subsurface support. This paper presents the differential interferometric synthetic aperture radar (DInSAR) results derived from the data of various SAR satellites, such as ERS-1/2, Radarsat-1 and JERS-1, for subsidence monitoring. One of the limitations of selecting the suitable interferomet...

Land Subsidence Mapping with Ers Interferometry: Evaluation of Maturity and Operational Readiness

Differential SAR interferometry with ERS data has a high potential for surface displacement mapping in the mm to m range. Such displacement information is of interest for the monitoring of phenomena as land subsidence, land slides, earthquakes, volcano swelling, and ice motion. In this contribution the maturity and operational readiness of the SAR interferometric technique are discussed, focusi...

Ers and Envisat Sar Interferometry to Measure Land Subsidence in the Venice Lagoon on Natural and Artificial Point Targets

The Venice Lagoon, Italy, is a unique worldwide environment which is presently vulnerable due to loss in surface elevation as a result of land subsidence referred to the mean sea level. Land displacements in the Venice coastland have been determined over time by traditional monitoring techniques (i.e., spirit leveling and GPS). Recently, SAR-based analyses have been used to complement the groun...
